Single-Line Multi-Channel Flexible Stress Sensor Arrays

Flexible stress sensor arrays, comprising multiple flexible units, enable accurate quantification and analysis of spatial distribution. Nevertheless, the current implementation arrays faces challenge excessive signal wires, resulting in reduced deformability, stability, reliability, increased costs. The primary obstacle lies electric amplitude modulation nature unit’s (e.g., resistance capacitance), allowing only one per wire. To overcome this challenge, single-line multi-channel (SLMC) measurement has been developed, enabling simultaneous detection signals through or two which effectively reduces number thereby enhancing reliability. This review offers a general knowledge SLMC beginning with sensors their piezoresistive, capacitive, piezoelectric, triboelectric sensing mechanisms. A further discussion is given on different arraying methods corresponding advantages disadvantages. Finally, categorizes existing into RLC series resonant sensing, transmission line ionic conductor piezoresistive distributed fiber optic based mechanisms, describes mechanisms characteristics each method summarizes research status measurement.
